Underpinned by our guiding purpose of ‘enriching lives’, the goal of the Amber River Foundation is to make a lasting positive impact on people and planet. Since 2022, we have supported 41 charities, raised over £577,000, and volunteered over 1,500 hours via the Foundation.
This would not have been possible without our Charity Champions. A large part of the day was spent reflecting on this achievement, sharing fundraising ideas, and planning how we can take the Foundation to the next level – raising more money, volunteering more time, and helping more people.
We also invited Trussell, one of our national charity partners, to meet the team and discuss the impact of our work together. Trussell are an anti-poverty charity dedicated to ending hunger in the UK. They run a community of foodbanks across the country, providing food and practical support to people left without enough money to live on.
Since 2023, the Amber River Foundation has raised £40,000 for Trussell, which is equivalent to 3,333 food parcels for people locked in poverty, and 1,212 hours of calls handled by the Help Through Hardship helpline.
As well as funds, we are also committed to donating time, and incorporated a volunteering activity into the day – our Champions jumped at the opportunity to give back. Two vans of toiletry and dental stock arrived in the morning, which the team unpacked to create individual care packages to ship to our local foodbank.
These items are typically not donated so we were really happy to help, and our 15 colleagues created 650 packages in just one hour. If this stock had been delivered directly to the foodbank, it would have taken their two-man team days to create that many packages, demonstrating the impact that just one hour of our time can make to our local community.
The day was a huge success. The passion and enthusiasm from our Champions emanated around the room and they left feeling empowered and committed to act – we can’t wait to see what they achieve with their charity partners this year.
