Last week, colleagues from our offices in the South East came together to clean up the River Thames with Thames21, a member of The Rivers Trust, one of our Foundation’s national charity partners.
1.5 hours, 26 colleagues, 335kg of plastic waste collected

The Rivers Trust is the umbrella organisation for 65 member Rivers Trusts across Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, who work together to make their shared vision a reality: wild, healthy, natural rivers, valued by all.

After a warm welcome from the Thames21 team, and learning about the threats facing our rivers from single use plastics and sewage, we donned our safety gear and got to work!

The heavens opened during the clean but this didn’t stop our determined colleagues. With only 1.5 hours to work due to the fast-rising tide, we still managed to remove an incredible 67 bags (335kg) of plastic waste from the foreshore, contributing to improving the habitat for both people and wildlife in the Battersea area.

Huge thanks to Thames21 and The Rivers Trust for hosting us, and providing us with the opportunity to make a positive impact on our environment.
