Mike Williams

Mike has over 20 years experience in Financial Services, Banking and Insurance, having joined Amber River in January 2020 to help develop the Amber River group strategy and support the acquired businesses in their growth and acquisition plans. In October 2021, he moved full time to Shipman Wealth Management (now Amber River Shipman Wealth) as Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to Amber River, Mike worked at the national advice network Openwork, holding roles including Chief Financial Officer, Group Risk Director, Commercial Director and Head of Corporate Finance. During this period, Openwork grew both organically and through M&A from 1,800 advisers to over 4,000 and separated from insurer Zurich to become an independent business. He helped launch the Omnis Investment Management business which now manages over £11bn of client’s money and was a Board Director of National IFA business 2plan which had c.250 advisers. Mike has also held roles at AXA Life and PwC.

Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
