Retirement planning

Planning for retirement is a fact of life. What retirement means exactly will differ from person to person, but there will come a time in everyone's life where employment stops and you need an alternative income.

If you’re in your 20s or 30s, retirement will seem a long way off. But you have an advantage: the earlier you start saving, the more time your money has to grow. If you leave your retirement planning until later in life, you’ll need to put more away each month to make up for lost time.

There are a number of savings and investment options to consider as part of your retirement planning. Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) and Pensions come with attractive tax benefits and should form part of your retirement plan. And because the value of investments and any income from them can go down as well as up, you might also consider a diversified investment portfolio that spreads your money across a range of different assets.

Retirement planning advisers

Retirement planning is not straightforward, so it’s best to seek the advice of an independent financial specialist. Your retirement planning adviser will be able to factor in your specific needs and circumstances, provide a projection based on your existing position, and advise on the amount you need to be putting aside each month to reach your goals. Importantly, they will be able to adjust your retirement plan as and when life throws up the odd surprise.

It’s all part of a process that we call Life Landscaping®.
