James came to Amber River True Bearing with eight years’ experience in the financial services industry including time spent as a Business Development Manager, before going on to be a Chartered Financial Planner for one of the UK’s largest IFA firms.

James became a Financial Planner because he enjoys being able to help people make the most out of their lives. He always begins the financial planning process by asking what his clients want from life and what are their hopes and dreams. Then a plan is put in place to help them achieve those goals and taking people on that journey is a really rewarding experience for him.

He decided to join Amber River True Bearing because he felt we were the best regarded independent, Chartered Firm in the region and had the kind of client centric culture he was looking for. As well as being Chartered, James is also an accredited adviser with the Society of Later Life Advisers which means he specialises in helping people plan for their later life. This includes expertise in the areas of paying for care and inheritance tax (IHT) planning.

James lives in the Lake District with his wife and dog, Morris. In his spare time, he loves to hike and run in the fells and has recently completed the Pennine Way and the George Fisher Tea Round.
